FOR REAL?

This can't be serious?
Even Utah doesn't do this.

INDECISIVE WEATHER

Winter can't seem to decide whether it wants to stay or leave, but we've still managed to keep busy & have some good shoots coming up in the next few weeks. Yesterday we headed out to try to get a bit creative & it ended up turning out really cool.

This is Sean Black & that is a solo sledneck unloading back there.

This is Trevor Rhoda & that is 1.5 hours of work behind him.

This is Harrison Gordon & that is a shovel.

This is one of Sean's tweaked maneuvers that was followed by Trevor's & Harry's within split seconds of eachother.

This is one of Trevor's tweaked rotating maneuvers.

And this is Boardin' Gordon's corked rotating manuever.

Not heading out till 3pm definitely has its perks though, like an 8:30 departure leaving us with an amazing sunset. No waterfalls or unicorns though unfortunately, we must've missed them.

Today we decided to venture up Little Cottonwood Canyon where Snowbird & Alta reside, & as you can see there is still quite a bit of snow all the way down to the mouth of the canyon.

Here is Sean behind one of our new logos in die-cut form.

If you look in the distance you can see Snowbird, which is still open, but every other resort is now closed with the same amount of snow, if not more. Bragging about closing with a 10 foot base just isn't cool, simple as that.

BEST TRIP EVER

To follow up Eddie's last post, I will tell you of a somewhat equivalent rail filming adventure of ours. 2-3 ft. in the surrounding areas of Cleveland so we started there. Small crew... 2 riders, 1 filmer, and a hat maker.

Drew picked us up from the airport in a van. Cleveland is the van capitol of the World. True fact.

At Drew's house it was powdering real hard. We were so psyched like I can't even tell you how psyched.Next morning we got to it.That afternoon, we rested up for the night time.Night mission failed. Booted immediately. This is the next morning. We got some shots. But some officers showed up shortly. Said we can snowboard all we want but no structures are allowed in the field. We tried pull ins a few times but they didn't come close to the official Funhat dropin ramp. Then we went to this spot. 2 injuries here pretty much called off the rest of Ohio.
Drew and I had the next day off so he showed me around his neck of the woods. We went a boardin at a little nook by the name of Boston Mills.
On the way out, Drew had a great idea to get up on this hay bail. Oh he did it alright. Look at him! There he is!
The next day, David flew home while Spencer and I made our way up to Buffalo, NY. On the way, we stopped at this battleship in Cleveland. The lady who took this picture asked if we are from Cleveland. We told her "no" then she replied "well that's a good thing." We were all in agreement.
Drew insisted that Spencer should not walk on the lake. Spencer didn't give a hell what Drew thought. This was the best thing in Cleveland.
We ventured on to find Matt in Buffalo.
And Sean came out too. This is where the pictures stop existing. Drew loaned me the official funhat digi cam but didn't have an official funhat digi cam charger. Buffalo was a good place. The snow was scarce. The rails were many but far between. The food was awesomely fried full of beef and covered in cheese. And the dudes were all time good fun lovin homeboys. The girls? Well Steve's chick was rad. So was Matt's mom. Other than that, I don't think there were any.

This picture somehow surfaced from the middle of our stay in Buffalo. It is actually from the morning before Matt got rushed to the hospital after hitting his head on a huge rail. Matt is OK. Anyhow, a picture is worth a thousand words. This one sums up our trip to a T.

BEST DAY EVER

So there was this one day, a really good day, a 4 shot day. That was with anywhere from knee to waist deep powder all over the hills & perfect weather.

Then there was another day, a pretty good day, a 1 shot day, & it was a banger, but this time there was anywhere from 3 to 8 inches on top of an ice rink, courtesy of the lower elevation & east facing slopes. The day after this we hoped would be good at a zone higher up but luck just wasn't on our side.

Started off at a different trail-head this time around since the normal one was literally painful to ride it was so wooped. We had a general idea of how to get to the destination, but one wrong turn put us into a bowl with no way out except back-tracking.

So we back-tracked to the first fork, went the other way, & ended up a few miles down the paved road from the original trail-head. Not to mention the snow was total garbage everywhere we had been on this little adventure.

Started heading back, again, & had to stop to wait for Ben & Rusty so we killed the sleds. They show up, then my sled won't start for a half hour for no reason.

This gave Sean, Ben, & Trevor time to sledneck around, & Sean even found time to leave his mark in the bark. Finally, my sled decided to give in & we sent it back to the fork that we went the wrong way at the first time around & went the right way this time.

A mellow 12 miles later we arrived, but snow was still crap. Went up the hill to our planned spot only to find sled tracks up & down the landing. Sweet. Go back down, snow is crap again, deal with more woops, got to the bottom of many climbs, snow is semi-crap. Climb, snow is a bit better, climb again, even better, oh wait no slednecks have been up past this point so time to break trail uphill through 2 feet of heavy non-Utah snow, greeaatttttt. Ended up handling it pretty well, but keep in mind that doubling is the worst thing on earth except on trails.

Then up at some of the spots it was too deep to shuttle the jumps, super flat light, & starting to snow pretty decently. Oh yea, Trevor carved too hard, turned on his side, killed the engine, wouldn't start for a half hour, so we just hung out for a bit.

After a short while, Cam, Sean, & I decided to cruise back down a ways so that they could jump off some rocks. We ended up getting some pretty cool shots so the day didn't end up being a total waste.

Sean got a chance to put some pow up in the air, so he took it, post photo.

Even farther back down there was this big rock to jump off of, so they did. Here is Sean.

While I was shooting this, Ben & Trevor hadn't been heard from in almost 45 minutes. Then Ben comes down to tell us that Trevor's sled wouldn't start AGAIN & that he thinks he needs new spark plugs. Good thing he bought some on the way to the mountain & left them in his car.

That pretty much sums up the day, except for not mentioning that the bolt that holds my clutch in came loose about 5 times. We also only had to dig out sleds twice, thankfully.

Till next time..

PS thanks to Rusty for the fisheye shots
